Mamas Blossom: After Dark

Here's an invitation for new mamas whose babies are about 3 months to 9 months...
Hi Blooma mamas,
I wanted to invite you to try out a new support group we're offering at Blooma on Wednesday nights. From 7-8:30pm on Wednesday Feb. 13th and again on the 27th, join us for some friendly, cozy conversation about what it means to be a new mother. In this special evening class, we'll relax with a cup of tea or a glass of wine and some chocolate. We'll share ideas about how to care for ourselves and balance our lives. I'll teach you a simple mind-body practice or two that can help you relax into motherhood. If you've been to any of the Friday morning sessions, we'll loosely follow that outline, and we'll definitely be adding new topics -- like how to survive and thrive as a working mother!). I'd love to see you there on Feb. 13th or Feb. 27 -- or better yet, both! So far, these sessions have been very rewarding for the women who've attended, and we're especially excited to be trying out this evening time for moms who haven't been able to join us during the day!
I can't wait to see you at Blooma!

Help for waterbirths

For those of you who have had a waterbirth or know someone who has, you'll want to know that Waterbirth International needs your help, and quick. Here's a note from their site...

[
For twenty plus years WBI and Barbara Harper have been guiding mothers and their providers, providing education and birth pools all over the world. Waterbirth International is facing the very difficult truth that the Gentle Birth World Congress - a fabulous success in every way for international and local attendees - drained all of our resources. We may have to close the doors permanently by January 31st.

We need to raise $200,000 in donations to cover the debts from the Congress. With such a large sum to raise, we need each of you to support this cause. When you support waterbirth, you are making a statement that you want and need options, choices and more control.]

Waterbirth International is accepting donations through their web site in hopes of raising enough money to cover their debts before January 31.

The Business of Being Born

We love a good flick about birth! Last week, Ricki Lake's new documentary, "The Business of Being Born" was featured on the Today show. Next week, I-CAN (the International Cesarean Awareness Network) will be showing the documentary here in Minneapolis. Blooma is so honored to be hosting an invitation-only VIP screening of the film, too. We love all our mamas and their families, and wish we could invite you all to see the film with us at Blooma, but we'll also be at I-CAN's screening on January 24th and hope to see some of you there!
